About Me:

Amy Housman has over 17 years of experience in the livestock feed industry, where she has worked in feed formulation, market research, feed regulation, and more recently, pet food formulation, supplement development, and supporting dairy startups. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, driven by her passion for horses, and later completed a Master’s in Animal Science with a focus on nutrition in 2013.

In 2015, Amy transitioned into higher education as the Animal and Equine Science program coordinator at Santa Rosa Junior College, where she supports her former students as they start their own farms. A key part of her work includes advising small farmers and ranchers on animal and grazing management, funding opportunities for first-generation farmers interested in climate-friendly practices, and offering training in nutrition, health, and business management.

Amy is passionate about helping the next generation of farmers and ranchers succeed and looks forward to continuing her work in animal agriculture.
